Your local guide will meet you at the agreed meeting point, the tour takes you to the historic center of Puerto Plata. Together with your tour guide you will see the famous San Felipe Cathedral and the typical Victorian houses. Take a look around and use the time to buy souvenirs. As the grand finale of your shore excursion, you will visit the fortress “Fuerte de San Felipe”, built in the mid-16th century to keep pirates off the coast. Even today, it is considered one of the oldest military forts from the colonial era in the region. During your visit, you will receive many interesting facts and insights into the story. After this varied excursion, it’s time to return to your ship.

I had reserved a private tour with Milton. I was unsure on the right person to choose. Thank the Almighty I choose Milton. I could not be more thankful for a tour guide like him. I wanted someone who could explain the history and rich culture of the Dominican. I am moving here and wanted someone who could give me the real story and history and he did not disappoint. Milton is very personable and eager to please and alter the tour to your preferences.
He is very knowledgeable and eager to show off his town. I informed him we would prefer little walking and he obliged getting us as close to items of interest as possible. He took us to a local’s restaurant that he frequents with his family for lunch. It of course local food and drink and was fantastic. He showed us local’s housing from meager to quite incredible including views. We later stopped at Rainbow Umbrella street for cocktails. He invited us to keep InTouch and return to visit. Overall a very nice day.”

Booking out tour was SUPER easy and communication with Milton, from the time we booked (3 weeks before), until the day of the tour Milton was SUPER quick responsive to EVERY question I asked. My mom and I reserved a private Peuto Plata “Hidden Gems” tour for only the 2 of us because my mom is limited mobility and we just wanted to be able to do the tour at our pace. …Milton was our guy! He was very patient, he loaded, unloaded my mom’s wheelchair, pushed her all around and was very patient as we made real-time trip modifications according to her needs. His knowledge is great, his English is great and he went above and beyond, more than once, to make us comfortable. Thank you!

Our guide, Milton, was by far the best guide we could’ve asked for. He was not only extremely informative but also paid close attention to everyone’s needs including mine which involves being in a power wheelchair. He made sure that every person in our group (six people) felt comfortable and was included in every aspect of the tour. He took us to a fantastic local restaurant. We also stopped by a few local tourist locations which were amazing. I highly recommend using Milton.

:We had a GREAT tour with Milton and his awesome son. My wife and I took our 2 adult children on the Carnival Marti Gras out of Cape Canaveral Jan 3-10 and hired Milton as our private driver/ guide to show us around Puerto Plata. We actually were an hour late to meet him as the ship time was an hour off local time but we didn’t know that until arrival. Milton had no problem with our tardiness and had a great attitude and was never in a hurry nor did we ever feel rushed. We went at our own pace and stopped when we wanted for some shopping or just a beer break. Towards the end of our tour we requested an ocean front restaurant for some drinks and snacks and he took us to a beautiful spot. It takes a little bit of walking to the pickup spot because private drivers aren’t allowed into the Carnival owned “cruise village” but we had no problem finding Milton, HIGHLY recommend this tour!

Milton was fantastic! He was very accommodating and knowledgeable to the places and things we state we were interested in. Went to a few touristy areas including central downtown, chocolate factory and Macorix Rum factory but really enjoyed where all the locals go to eat and live their daily life in Maimon! Highly recommend to anyone looking to customize your trip while here to really enjoy a city you’re not familiar with. Ask for Milton!
